Whilst
their parents completed the Christmas shopping, children from East
Brighton spent a couple of days braving the seasonal cold and damp
whilst exploring Stanmer Park and the woods on
their bikes. The children spent their mornings learning how to fix
their own bikes: they mended punctures, fixed their brakes
and tuned up their gears. In the afternoons, having serviced
their own bikes, it was into the park and into the woods to find
the deepest puddles and the thickest mud so they could test them
out properly, which they certainly did.

It was “Brilliant, fantastic, awesome!” They
said.
“It should happen every holiday," said one of the
Mothers, “Not sure about the washing though!”
To
finish off there was a warming mug of hot chocolate in the cafe
and then back to the Bridge for the Christmas party
and finally, home for good bath. The Bikes 4 U
school holiday cycling activities project is run by Brighton based
Cycle Training from the Bridge community centre in Moulsecoomb and
funded by the eb4u Out of School Activities Project. Cycle Training
would love to work with other groups in the East Brighton area,
