We
are a group that tries to give young people from East Brighton a
chance to make their own films. Not just to act but write,
direct, film, edit and compose the soundtracks. We started as a small group
at the Bridge Community Centre in Moulsecoomb at the end of 2003.
Every Monday student members spend two hours improvising dramatic
scenes, and having fun with the camera. Funding was gained from the
Film Council in 2003 that enabled us to make more ambitious films
and work with professionals such John Forgham, from Kiss
of the Dragon,
who helped us develop our ideas. Our films have been shown at the
Odeon cinema and on Sky Community Channel
867.
Runaround is a comedy about a Sister’s revenge on her big Brothers after
their reign of terror. Second Chance is an edgy drama that includes
an animated sequence. Contackt is a sci-fi film of a boy who meets
an alien in his back garden. We have a larger group now and are working
on a modern version of Romeo and Juliet with Goths and Townies as
sworn enemies. We began filming in January.
We
are always looking for new members who want to get involved and anyone
interested in showing the films, please contact Paul Kennedy on 077
2972 9856.
