"Ki
mai ki au. He aha te taonga nui o te ao? Maku e ki, he tamariki, he tamariki, he tamariki." Family Group Conferences developed amongst Maori tribes in the 1980s. They were used to provide a system for solving child welfare problems that did not involve the State. FGCs have evolved in this country (UK) and across the world as a way of empowering families to solve problems for themselves. Find out more about FGCs. |
Daybreak is a charity that organises FGCs. It also organises training into the concept of FGCs. There are a number of projects across the South of England. We work with families, where there is a child in need, to arrange meetings of family and friends who get together to make plans for help. The FGCs can be a great way of making sure that a family's voice is heard and listened to. See how FGCs works and read how they have helped families to solve their problems. |
